Pledge Mom
1. What pledge class did you cross with?
I crossed with the Alpha Iotas in the Fall of 2007 as a sophomore.
2. What is your major/minor?
I’m an International Relations major with minors in
Neuroscience and Sociocultural Anthropology.
3. What are your future career plans?
I’m hoping to continue on to graduate school and earn my doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
4. Why did you join KGD?
During my freshmen year I was really focused on school and didn’t make many close friends, so
going into my sophomore year I knew that I wanted to make a change. I was looking for a group on
campus that had the same goals as myself, but I was also looking for close friends that could provide
social and emotional support. KGD was the perfect fit! I can always find motivation to study when
I’m with my sisters, and the sisterhood aspect provides all of the support I need.
5. How has KGD changed your life?
KGD has completely changed my life! Before I pledged KGD I was really quiet and insecure.
Through bonding with my pledge sisters and spending time volunteering and socializing with the
rest of the sorority, I not only gained the confidence to be more outspoken but developed the self-
confidence to be more comfortable in my own skin. I feel more like myself than I ever did before,
and I’ve found lifelong friends that will always be there to support me.
6. What is your favorite part of KGD?
I love spending time with my sisters! Anytime the girls get together it’s always a blast, whether it’s
at a social, service event, or just at weekly meeting. These girls are amazing!
7. What are your interests?
My family is all about sports, but I love love love football (go Niners!). When I’m not catching up on
SportsCenter, I enjoy studying (I know, crazy), reading, playing piano, playing my Wii, watching
Jeopardy (and the other 15 shows I’m addicted to!), and doing crosswords.
8. What type of extracurriculars are you involved with?
I’m a counselor at The House, a drop in peer counseling program on campus. I’m also actively
involved in Colleges Against Cancer, the American Cancer Society’s affiliate at UC Davis.
